Adopting the love of your life starts here! Ready to meet your new best friend? Adopting a rescue cat is a life-changing experience—for both of you.
Most of our cats have been rescued by our 501(c)(3) nonprofit from shelters or the streets. Some come to us as re-homed cats, and some are other rescues’ cats that we took in.
While each of our cats has been vaccinated, microchipped, spayed/neutered, and lovingly cared for in the sanctuary cafe, we cannot guarantee or test for any possible feline disease. The list of what we test for and vaccinate for is available for any prospective adoptive cat parent.
We highly recommend taking your newly adopted cat to a reputable vet (our recommended vets list is available at the cafe) for the exam and to update any shots, if needed.
Here are the adoption steps:
🐱 Step 1: Visit Our Cat Cafe
Come sip a latte, relax, and meet our cute whiskered residents in a calm, cozy, and upscale environment. Our adoptable cats live onsite at Bougie Cat Cafe in Irvine, CA, where you can see their true personalities shine.

🧸 Step 2: Request Private Play Time
Fallen in love with a particular kitty? Schedule a private cuddle session with the kitty you are interested with the cafe staff you can bond and make sure it’s a purrfect match.
✍️ Step 3: Submit an Adoption Application
If you’ve found your soulmate, we’ll guide you through completing our quick adoption application here.
We review every application carefully to ensure a great fit for the cat and the adopter. Please note that some cats may have multiple interested adopters, and submitting an application does not guarantee that you could adopt your chosen cat or any cat from our rescue.
✅ Step 4: Application Review & Approval
If your application is approved, we’ll contact you to finalize details. Our average application processing time is 1 week. Please only contact us to follow up on your application if it has been more than 1 week after submitting.
💳 Step 5: Pay Adoption Fee
Our adoption fee helps cover veterinary care, food, and shelter costs. The fee amount varies depending on age and needs and the cat breed. All adoption fees are tax-deductible donations!
📅 Step 6: Schedule Your Pickup Appointment
To ensure a smooth transition, you’ll set a pickup time with our staff. We’ll send you home with your new companion. Newly adopted cats transition tips are will be provided by the staff.
